{"id":6832,"date":"2026-02-26T09:48:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T17:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blackcap.name\/blog\/new\/?p=6832"},"modified":"2026-02-26T09:48:00","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T17:48:00","slug":"more-of-this-please","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blackcap.name\/blog\/new\/?p=6832","title":{"rendered":"More of This, Please"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/politics\/ottawa-funding-cuba-9.7105223\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/politics\/ottawa-funding-cuba-9.7105223\">Canada is sending aid to Cuba<\/a> in response to increasing efforts by the USA to strangle the regime there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am 100% in support of this, not because I am a big fan of the regime there (I am not, it is a dictatorship), but because freedom has absolutely nothing to do with anything any fascist regime does (and the Trump regime <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/2026\/01\/america-fascism-trump-maga-ice\/685751\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/2026\/01\/america-fascism-trump-maga-ice\/685751\/\">most definitely <em>is<\/em> a fascist one<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When dealing with a long list of things one does not like, often one must prioritize. As Churchill, long a proud conservative and ardent anti-communist, once said when asked about Stalin after the Nazis invaded the USSR: &#8220;I have only one purpose, the destruction of Hitler, and my life is much simplified thereby. It Hitler invaded Hell I would make at least a favourable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So yes, supporting countries under US pressure right now is a <em>good<\/em> thing. The more fascism fails, and fails early, the better off the long-term prospects for the world as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And yes, I have been awfully quiet here recently.
